While issue #47 is an interesting story about the the Beast and Ice Man, it’s definitely not one of the stronger silver age stories about the X-Men but it’s still one worth reading!

Before Marvel Comics made the decision to have Bobby Drake (Ice Man) become a gay man, back in the ’60s (and even in the “Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends” cartoons of the ’80s), Bobby was portrayed as a ladies man.

And with issue #47, with the supposed death of Professor X, the group has split up.

And what way for Bobby and Hank McCoy to relieve some of that frustration by going out in the town with the ladies.

Meanwhile, a Maha Yogi is using his power to hypnotize people to become his minions.  Maha Yogi actually is the X-Men’s nemesis, the Warlock and when Bobby, Hank and their dates go to watch the Maha Yogi perform, immediately they know they must take him down quickly.

The second story focuses on Bobby Drake discussing his powers as Ice Man and for the most part, the struggling “X-Men” series was trying to reintroduce its characters to readers in hopes people would buy the comic book.

From issues #43-48, we get two stories, the second story typically an origin issue or an issue showcasing an X-Men member’s powers.

While issue #47 is an interesting story about the the Beast and Ice Man, it’s definitely not one of the stronger silver age stories about the X-Men but it’s still one worth reading!
