It was one thing about knowing that Jean Grey had a dark side, Dark Phoenix.  But with issue #147, we learn that Ororo/Storm has a dark side, Rogue Storm.

And as the cover teased, “We did it before… Dare we do it again?”.

And the answer was…they did.

But the question is, would they bring back Rogue Storm ever again in an issue of the X-Men?  So far, I don’t think they have.  But it’s no doubt something that can be tapped into for a cool storyline, although people may be upset of saying it’s a cheap way for Marvel to screw their characters by once again ruining a cool hero with the potential to be evil.

As the story continues with Dr. Doom holding half of the X-Men team in Latveria, those isolated in their own type of jail cell ala their own personal danger room try to find ways to escape and Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) is the first.

Meanwhile, Storm who is encased in chrome is losing it, as being encased and unable to break free reminders her of when she was buried alive as a child and that pain and anxiety is unleashing a storm never seen before in that area.

As the X-Men find ways to escape their hellish Danger Room jail cell, once they are free they go after Dr. Doom and Wolverine threatens to tear him to shreds unless he gets the metabolic transmuter to bring Storm out of her chrome encasement.

And once they break her out, inside is Rogue Storm and even greater threat to both the X-Men and Doom (Btw, isn’t it interesting that Arcade is casually gone during when all this is transpiring).

Nevertheless, both sides make a truce and it didn’t seem like a Dr. Doom thing to do.

I imagine that is why in “Fantastic Four”, without Chris Claremont’s knowledge, John Byrne wrote a story for “Fantastic Four” in which he probably felt that the Dr. Doom featured in “Uncanny X-Men” wasn’t like Doom, so he made it into a Doombot, which the real Dr. Doom ended up destroying.

So, technically, the Uncanny X-Men and the real Dr. Doom didn’t meet up just yet until…”The Secret Wars”?
