Cyborg Superman has led Mongul and a group of aliens destroyed Coast City by dropping 77,000 canisters of explosives killing too many people.  And they dropped more canisters to transform the burn rubble of Coast City to Engine City.

With so many people dead, it was also the return of one true Superman.  Unfortunately, still weak, unable to fly but he is determined in getting to Coast City in order to stop Cyborg Superman and Mongul from destroying another city.

As Green Lantern takes on Mongul,Superman, Superboy and Supergirl try to stop Eradicator but when they see Steel return with his steel uniform in bad shape, Cyborg Superman comes out of nowhere and blasts Superman.

As the others take on Cyborg Superman, Eradicator (made of Kryptonian technology to protect the integrity of Kryptonian life) helps Superman and even tells him that he is the one that was responsible for taking Superman from his tomb and using one last chance to save him, which proved to work.

Despite Superman not trusting Eradicator, when he learns that Eradicator was responsible for his return but most of all saving him, Superman agrees to work with Eradicator.  But when they find out that Cyborg Superman is powering Engine City with kryptonite, can the two take on the powerful Cyborg Superman?

Featuring a chromium cover, issue #82 is special for the fact that it features the return of Superman and the final battle between Superman vs. Cyborg Superman (Hank Henshaw). Also, it’s an issue where we see Superman wearing the red blue and yellow once again!

A fitting conclusion to the “Reign of Superman!”arc.
