When Weapon H (a.k.a. Hulverine) was featured on the pages of “Totally Awesome Hulk” and “Weapon X”, it was no doubt that we were going to get a character that would be feature more in the Marvel Universe.

And I’m cool with that as the character about Clay, an ex-military Eaglestar contractor went rogue, murdered his teammates who were to eliminate the lives of innocent villagers.

In retaliation by Eaglestar, he was handed over to the Weapon X program and was experimented on by Dr. Alba with the power of the Hulk and Wolverine and Weapon H was born.

Unlike the Hulk, Clay is pretty bright, he’s also a guy with a hot temper and he just wants to be left alone.  Unfortunately, when he gets excited, he easily turns into Weapon H.

In this latest issue, Clay is just trying to get by, find work and disappear from the world.  But each time he hurts himself, he realizes that he has quick healing abilities (like Wolverine).

One day a group is brought to the freezing temperatures somewhere in the mountain investigating on information about the Avignon Party as featured in the Comstock Papers.

As these explorers are thinking they were on an archaeological find, it is revealed that the leader of the mission wanted to experiment on them and turn them into a Wendigo.

When Glay sees a woman running from a monster and tries to tell himself, it’s not his business, there is decency with Clay that he wants to help and it leads to a battle between Weapon H vs. the Wendigo.

For the most part, an exciting first issue and I actually really dig this character.  I also felt the storytelling surrounding Weapon H is much better in this issue than the actual story arc featured in “Totally Awesome Hulk” and “Weapon X”.

So, I’m looking forward to reading more issues of this title!
