SUPERMAN created by Siegel and Shuster

For issue #6 of “Superman”, I have to say that this one was a bit odd, but in a good way.

Again, this is during John Byrne’s popular run of “Superman” and Superman wakes up outside of a pyramid and sees Lois holding his Superman costume inside Clark’s gym bag.

But after talking to her, he realizes, Lois Lane has been possessed by an alien species known as H’v’ler’ni and also those of the archaelogy team.

Lois has been possessed by A’x’iar, the leader of the H’v’ler’ni and explains that long ago, they were the original inhabitants of Earth who conquered the planet.  100,000 years ago, a plague struck and many of the species were wiped out.

While many fled the planet, about 500,000 stayed behind.  And those who stayed behind decided to remove their conscious minds and upload it to a gigantic robotic host and now its been awakened.  And now these consciousness of these individuals are looking for human hosts.

Of course, Superman comes up with a trick. Why not offer himself to the H’v’ler’ni? But of course, the conscious minds inside the robot decide they all want Superman’s body.
And that’s all I’m going to say about this issue.

I have to say that the artwork for this very issue is fantastic and I love how John Byrne draws the characters especially Lois. I’ve seen many Lois Lane characters and it’s always different, depending on the artist.

But overall, I enjoyed John Byrne’s run on “Superman” and enjoyed this issue for its story and John Byrne’s character design.
