As we learned the origin of the Celtic warrior named Torin Mac Quillon from issue 2, with issue 3, he is awaken by Tamara.  At first he thinks it’s magic, but he eventually learns that he is now in the future and he was given a second chance at life.

Torin learns the truth of why he was brought to the future and it was learned how humanity killed its planet due to industrial pollution and with irreversible damage, air and seas filled with toxins and the population growth out of control, humanity had no choice but to leave the planet and survive.

But because other planets were not as hospitable, the only way for humanity to survive was to go through genetic altering to adapt to new worlds.

But in the next future, the sun began to die and without the sun, planets are now suffering from cold.  Outer colonies abandoned their dying world and encroached on other territories in warmer planets which led to an interplanetary war.

The colonies do not know how to fight against the altered humans and that is why they brought Torin Mac Quiillon, because centuries of peace, humanity doesn’t know what a warrior is, let alone warfare.

And supposedly there is an amulet with great power enough to save all mankind and Torin is asked to retrieve the amulet and return it to Earth.

So, Torin has no choice but to take up the mantle and become humanity’s warrior.

It’s quite interesting because humanity had one shot to bring someone from the past to fight for those living in his distant future and he’s the only help and only person that can do it (we do not know why he was specifically selected just yet).

But for the most part, with issues #1-3 being more of an introduction to the characters, I am definitely looking forward to issue #4.

As always, you really can’t go wrong with a Mike Grell storyline. He is one of the best comic book writers out there!  Another recommended issue!
