A one-issue storyline, but it’s entertaining. But I found Stan Lee’s poke at the critical fans who write him of the science of what Matt is doing is impossible and creating certain situations that would no doubt drive these critical fans up the wall.

TITLE: Daredevil: The Man Without Fear vol. 1, issue #24

YEAR: January 1967

COMPANY: Marvel Comics

Written by Stan Lee

ART: Gene Colan

INKS: Frank Giacoia

LETTERING: Sam Rosen

With the 24th issue, we have the return of Ka-Zar.

But I think what makes this issue so fascinating is the fact that Stan Lee found a way to screw with the readers because if you have read any of the letters from fans about past issues in each month of Daredevil, the staff were criticized that “how can Daredevil read the newspaper if he’s blind?” and “How can Matt Murdock do this and that if he’s blind?”.  And as much as Stan and staff tried to tell readers that Matt Murdock has these special abilities that let him do things that maybe considered impossible.

But it continued and continued and sometimes I wonder if staff felt it became like a broken record, repeated over and over by fans who were in disbelief of the science of it all, especially when it came to radio waves and such.

I felt Stan and staff needed to emphasize it to the point of even joking about it as you can see in the image below.

The storyline takes place right after The Owl, Mask Marauder and Gladiator storyline.

Matt is trapped in some European country and a group of rebels see him and want to jack him up for showing up in their territory.

Needless to say Daredevil kicks their butt but how does he get back home? Daredevil eventually steals a plane and flies the plane in the UK.

Yep, and Stan has a message for those who don’t believe he could do it.

He even adds things that have driven readers crazy and that’s Matt being able to read the newspaper because he can feel the surface of the letters of the ink, yes, even though he is wearing gloves.

Anyway, he reads that Ka-Zar is in trouble and a mob wants him dead. Accusing him of being a murderer. So, seeing that he’s has met Ka-Zar and wants to help prove his innocence, he decides to meet with Ka-Zar.

But with Daredevil’s arrival, Ka-Zar thinks that he is there to capture him and the two get into a fight!

Anyway, it’s a one-issue storyline, but it’s entertaining. But I found Stan Lee’s poke at the critical fans who write him of the science of what Matt is doing is impossible and creating certain situations that would no doubt drive these critical fans up the wall.

A fun issue worth reading!
