It was an interesting time at Marvel back in 1986.
It was no doubt a year of changes, for the X-Men, Magneto became the leader and the original X-Men members leave and endup forming X-Factor (or X-Terminators), as they help the US Government take on evil mutants.
And sure enough, when a guy needing money sees Bruce Banner transforming to the Incredible Hulk, he sees a TV ad about the X-Terminators, thinking that if he turns this guy (who he thinks is a mutant) to the group, there may be a cash reward.
And so, he waits until the X-Terminators come…
But lo and behold, when Ice Man sees Bruce Banner, he doesn’t understand why Bruce is running away. This leads X-Factor to chase after Bruce Banner, but while chasing Bruce Banner, what they get instead is the Grey Hulk and it’s a battle between X-Factor vs. the Grey Hulk. Do, Cyclops, Jean Grey and Ice Man have any chance of winning against the grey behemoth?
Meanwhile, Ice Man is having problems having control over his powers, while for Clay Quartermaine, the S.H.I.E.L.D. operative has had no luck in capturing the Hulk and knows his superiors patience is wearing thin.
Overall, this was a pretty cool fight. X-Factor regards Bruce Banner as their friend but the Grey Hulk, he hates Banner and so he hates X-Factor. But with Ice Man’s instability and lack of control of his powers, may be what they need to defeat the Hulk?
This story is part 1 and part 2 is continued in the next issue!
But overall, it was pretty cool to see X-Factor in an issue of “The Incredible Hulk”!
