Before I stopped purchasing comic books when I was in college, Cyclops and Jean Grey were married and a hot item, Storm was with Forge, Dazzler was with Longshot and Gambit and Rogue were trying to explore a relationship that was difficult, because Rogue is unable to touch anyone.

Needless to say that was in the late ’90s.  Fastforward, nearly 20-years later to find out that both Gambit and Rogue were getting married and the two would have their own comic book series titled “Mr & Mrs X”.

The first issue focuses on the wedding and how people feel when they see Mystique (Rogue’s mother) showing up.  And with a lot jokes among the X-Men, the two get to have a honeymoon in space.  Unfortunately, their honeymoon is interrupted by Kitty Pryde who needs the two’s help and they are the closest to where the problem is at.

Needless to say, Gambit and Rogue must put a pause on their honeymoon and prepare for a major adventure.

For the most part, it’s a good first issue.  Personally, I feel it was long overdue and Marvel took too long to make it happen.

It’s weird to think about how when I followed these two characters, I was young and in college and now I’m a parent with a teenager who will be going to college soon.

But I don’t get a chance to read today’s modern comics all that much and it’s interesting to have read this and see these two together and finally are getting married.
