The witch (high priestess) Zaldane has resurrected Garokk in the body of the Petrified Man and now Garokk is planning to build a great eternal metropolis, the city of the Sun God.

Garokk who wanted to reunite all people of the Savage Land and live together as brother.  He has issued an ultimatum, join him for this order and if you don’t, you die.

And the worst part of it, the lush and beautiful Savage Land is now frozen and cold.

Needless to say, Kazar and other tribes have done their best to fight against Garokk to no avail.  He is able to build his city and things are not looking good.

That was until Kazar and Sauron happened upon the uncanny X-Men.

And as the groups team up with the X-Men to lead an assault on Garokk’s new city, his warriors capture half of their team, leaving only Storm, Wolverine and Nightcrawler to infiltrate and save their comrades.

Zaladane and Garokk are now planning to execute their captive and even have Colossus burning tied with flames trying to burn him up.  Colossus is glowing red, not knowing if he will melt.  Needless to say, the rest is quite predictive as Storm, Wolverine and Nightcrawler are able to pull off the daring rescue.

But this issue alone shows a side of Wolverine and his feral rage and if anything, I wished this arc went a bit longer, another issue or two because it ended far too quickly.

But overall, it was an interesting two-story arc featuring the group in the Savage Land.
