It was a story that was created back in 2006-2009. Written by Marv Wolfman and art by Claudio Castellini, “Man and Superman” was completed in September 2018 and was released recently in April 2019.

Originally created to be part of a four-part miniseries titled “Superman Confidential” but the comic was canceled before the story could be printed and because it’s an all Clark Kent story, DC wasn’t sure when Wolfman’s story could be released until now.

When Marv Wolfman said this is one of the best stories he has written, you have got to believe, he may have created something special.

And as a longtime Superman fan, I’ve read a lot of awesome stories, as well as a lot of duds.  And I have to say that this is one of the best “Superman” stories I have read in my lifetime.

This is a story that focuses on Clark Kent’s move to Metropolis, wanting to get a job as a writer and learning on how to live in the city.

Wanting to live a normal life, despite his family telling him to use his powers for good but to also wear a costume his mother, Martha Kent, has made him, Clark is not just there yet.

He is a young man trying to discover himself, to live in the city alone and is learning.

In the process, as one can expect, he finds himself saving people, but of course, someone gets a photo of him flying and Clark is afraid that he may have revealed himself to the public.

For Lois Lane, the #1 reporter at the Daily Planet, she sees the flying man, writes about him, but yet people have a hard time buying it.

That is of course, Clark doing more good deeds with his super power but yet trying to find ways of not revealing himself (and also not wearing a uniform).

I really don’t want to reveal too much of the story but I will say that the way Wolfman has crafted the story, it was well-done!  And to make it even a finer balance, is the amazing artwork of Claudio Castellini.

In essence, this is a Clark Kent story, not a Superman story but it does go into how he got the name of Superman, how he met Lois Lane and also his first confrontation with Lex Luthor and how he got a job at the Daily Planet.

No doubt one of the finest Superman stories created, if you are a Superman fan, “Man and Superman” is a must-read, must-own 100-page super spectacular!  Highly recommended!
