My journey of re-reading “Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew!” continues and this time I’m at issue #5.

And this issue features the introduction to Oklahoma Bones and villain Dr. Hoot and the evil Space Bunnies.

So, there is a lot going on in this issue, but that’s a good thing!

The issue begins with a battle against a huge robotic owl in Gnu York and with the quick thinking by Captain Carrot, Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew! wins another match.  But watching them is Oklahoma Bones, an archaeologist and the son of the great Professor Bones.

Oklahoma with his snake Ripley explain of what happened when Professor Bones went to Easter Island and is shot down by a Ratzi Plane.

While Professor Bones was able to use his quick wit to survive against the local tribe and the Ratzi’s, he is eventually captured.

Ratzi leader, von Vermin explains that the stone heads they found in Easter Island contains a story of how alien rabbits found giant eggs which had drifted to the planet form outerspace.

When they opened these eggs, they discovered something terrifying.  And  to rescue the planet, from whatever was in the egg, one piloted the eggs to Earth and used its mind to control the local natives in burying the eggs and putting rabbit head statues to cover these eggs.  Making sure no one finds it.

The thankful natives in the island gave Professor Bones an Easter Egg for safekeeping.

But  the group talks about the danger of these eggs and not really knowing what trouble could be in it, Pig Iron was getting very hungry and went to the fridge where Oklahoma Bones kept the mysterious egg and sure enough Pig Iron cracks the egg open and an alien egg comes out attacking him.

Which leads to Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew taking on an alien egg that is growing by the second.

Overall, another entertaining issue which features a few new characters and once again, reminding me why I loved this series so much as a child!
