The “Weapons of Mutant Destruction” which appeared on “Totally Awesome Hulk” and “Weapon X” has concluded and while I felt the arc started out a bit weak, the final issue finally showed us the result from the experimentation with Weapon X subjects and Amadeus Cho’s blood to create a new behemoth, half Hulk and half Wolverine yet having the healing factor and abilities of Wolverine, Sabretooth, Domino, Warpath and Lady Deathstrike.
And now the Hulkverine is loose and the five go after it.
Suffice to say, this fight doesn’t go well as Hulkverine is way too powerful and deadly and for Dr. Alba, she relishes in seeing the results of her creation. And obvious, we know that Weapon H is up to no good.
Meanwhile, we get to see the Hulverine resort back to human form, returning to a place that probably was once home and imagining the past with his kids. But the building is Eaglestar Corporation and with the soldiers trying to arrest the man, he beats them not as Hulkverine but with his own fighting skills. We see him take a shot to the shoulder and quickly heal and not only does have excellent fighting skills and also quick healing factor, it makes us wonder who this man once was long ago?
As the group look for more help, Logan knows a person that he can count on for reinforcement…X-23 (the current Wolverine).
Overall, this fight among Weapon X and Hulkverine is awesome! Yes, much more awesome than the finale of “Weapons of Mutant Destruction” (as featured in “Totally Awesome Hulk” issue #22).
You get the usually in-fighting between Logan and Sabretooth, a Domino that is perplexed that the Hulkverine didn’t hurt her and an awesome battle overall!
It’s important to note that there is a variant cover with a venomized Hulkverine. Not sure why as there is no Venom or anything that has to do with Venom or a symbiote. So, to tell you the truth, not sure what the variant cover pertains to, other than it looks cool and entices people to spend more money on a comic for its variant cover.
But overall, I really enjoyed this issue and much better than many of the stories featured in the “Weapons of Mutant Destruction” arc.
