When Damien Wayne was brutally slaughtered in “Batman Incorporated” issue #8, needless to say, Bruce Wayne has not been the same. He’s been bitter, cold and now driven by the idea that he can revive Damian.
But that means going to Darkseid to capture the omega power needed to pump back into Damian.
So Batman (in a special iron armor), Red Robin, Red Hood, Cyborg, Batgirl and Ace the Bat-Hound travel to Darkseid’s personal hell.
But how far will Bruce Wayne go to get this power from Darkseid?
I actually enjoyed this issue of “Batman and Robin”. It’s a bit different in the fact that you have Batman ala armor costume (like Iron Man) taking on Darkseid, which really, Darkseid should of easily kicked Batman’s arse.
But seeing that Batman trying to get this power from Darkseid was part of the main plot to bring Damian Wayne back, needless to say it was pretty cool.
And since then, Damian Wayne has become a big part of the DC universe and as for Batman, I’m not sure how fans felt about this story. I could picture old school fans rolling their eyes, while newer fans thinking Batman is just the ultimate superhero with brains, wit and money to create technology that would protect him in his battle with Darkseid.
Well, I suppose if Tony Stark can create the Hulkbuster, Bruce Wayne could create something that would help him survive and fight back against Darkseid.
But it was cool to see Batman using this new armor and also awesome to see this long storyline of bringing back Damian Wayne from death to life finally be completed.
