An entertaining “Archie” comic from the early ’60s!

TITLE: Archie issue #122

YEAR: September 1961

COMPANY: Archie Comic Publication

If there is anything that remained consisted with Archie through the decades is that Archie and Reggie are often competing for Veronica’s affections, Betty always trying to get Archie’s attention and art and writing remained consistent for decades.

Aside from Archie looking slightly different when he first debuted (big teeth with a gap) in the ’40s.

Archie and friends debuted in “Pep Comics” issue #22 (1941) and since then, many of the characters have had their own issues and while the story has evolved since it’s pure and innocent times, reading issue #122 from 1961, the stories still remain consistent with what I grew up reading.

Please note that this issue has no writer/artist credit.

The first story is about Archie and Reggie wanting to go bowling and Betty and Veronica wanting to join them.

In the next issue, Archie and Reggie compete in an obstacle race on a cross country course and the winner wins a date with Veronica.

The next issue, Archie, Jughead, Dalton and Reggie discuss who has the most harrowing experience in the ocean.

And the last revolves around how Archie is able to control his temper…or could he?

In addition, you also get a short one page story of Lil Jinx and a two page story featuring Archie friends.

But overall an entertaining “Archie” comic from the early ’60s!
