TITLE: Ms. Tree’s Thrilling Detective Adventures issue #2

YEAR: April 1983

COMPANY: Eclipse Comics

By Max Collins and Terry Beatty

Michael Tree, a detective, is wanting revenge for her husband’s murderer, who happens to be mob boss, Dominic Muerta.

While going to a resort as recommended by her psychiatrist, her vacation is shortlived after a young couple was gunned down.  The woman, is the niece of Dominic Muerta.

And now with issue #2, Francesco Muerta, the brother of Dominic has come to her detective agency, to hire her to find out who murdered his daughter.

What is known is that this was a professional hit, but not only does Francesco want the man who murdered his daughter but he wants the person who hired the professional assassin.

Knowing full well that his brother could be involved.

As Michael was about to leave, she confronts the man (who she confronted at the resort after the murder of the young couple) wearing another disguise.  She was lucky to escape.

But now she wants to know if Francesco sent this assassin to kill her?

The story is split with the first half in the front of the comic and the second part after the two short stories: “Mike Mist Minute Mist-ery” and a short story titled “The Scythe” written by Dean Mullaney.

The story begins with a man getting dressed up with a mask and outfit like Zorro.  We learn that detectives are being murdered.  Not wanting to be a sitting duck, he makes his move trying to find the assassin known as Button Man.

For the most part, “Ms. Tree’s Thrilling Detective Adventures” issue #2 is a good issue with three stories included.  Granted, for those wanting a full story of Ms. Tree may be disappointed by that.  But if anything, I was cool reading about three different mystery stories involving different characters.

But overall, a cool story overall!
