TITLE: Fantastic Four vol. 1, Issue #42

YEAR: September 1965

COMPANY: Marvel Comics

Written by Stan Lee

Illustrated by Jack Kirby

Inker: Vince Colletta

Letterer: Sam Rosen

In the last issue, we saw The Thing captured and brainwashed by the Frightful Four.

As the Fantastic Four fight back against their villainou counterparts, unfortunately the Frightful Four is ahead of the game by dousing Human Torch with water, gluing Reed Richards to a board, while Invisible Girl does what she can do help Reed and Johnny.

Unfortunately, the Wizard who has The Thing under his spell, wants him to destroy the Fantastic Four and immediately the Thing goes into action to kill off his former teammmates.

But can Sue find a way to protect them and what happens when the Wizard then has both Johnny and The Thing under his spell.

Needless to say, this issue really shows the Frightful Four putting up a fight and having the one-up against the Fantastic Four.

It was interesting to see how Mr. Fantastic would hold his own against the Thing and while Reed Richards did his best, there is only so much he could do against The Thing’s strength and of course, only so much Human Torch can do against the Frightful Four on his own.

But now, it’s just Reed and Sue vs. the Frightful Four, Thing and Human Torch.  And will Reed’s high intellect find a way to defeat them?

We’ll find out in issue #43!
